A monomyth, also known as “the hero’s journey”, is a recurring pattern of different stages most heroes encounter over the course of their adventures. As for medical students, in addition to the conventional rituals we need to go through—medical school, hospital training, and finally a physician, we can no longer settle for the ordinary in times when our society emphasizes interdisciplinary skills.

During the Symposium, we invite you to open your minds to take in notions that are not necessarily offbeat but definitely novel. Research on neuroscience, palliative care, biomedical technology, public health and many other sub-topics are among the various fields that may ignite new sparks on your medical journey. We hope that each participant eventually reaps the wisdom and knowledge obtained from these “extraordinary” fields and incorporate the abilities into our “ordinary” routines.
